Begegnungsraum Schloss (A palace as a place of encounters): Contemporary women artists take a new look at old space
An exhibition project at Schloß Hallenburg in Schlitz (1997) implemented on behalf of the FrauenKunstGeschichte e.V. in Marburg (Society for Women, Art and History) For this exhibition project, twenty women artists from Hessen used the rooms of Hallenburg Palace, which have stood empty since the late-1970s, to realise artistic projects.
Working independently and in groups, the artists took inspiration from the diverse structural features of the spaces. The thirteen places of encounter (Begegnungsräume) which emerged from this process reflect the artists’ interactions both with the historical building and with their fellow artists.
