About Me
I was born and grew up in Boppard on the Rhine. From a young age, I was drawn to art and as a teenager, I often travelled to Cologne to see the modern art at the Ludwig Museum. I have always had a great interest in people from other cultures and this is why I love to travel. I currently live in Saxony-Anhalt and have been getting to know the former East German Länder since 2003.
I studied classical Art History with Modern German Literature and Italian Studies at the Universities of Marburg, Hamburg und Venice. In 1991, I completed my master’s thesis on the Last Judgment in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta on the Venetian island of Torcello.
After graduating, I gained many years of experience as a curator in both regional and international contexts. I curated exhibitions for the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz (modern French art), the Museo de la Solidaridad Salvador Allende in Santiago de Chile, the Marburger Kunstverein (Marburg Art Society) and for FrauenKunstGeschichte (Society for Women, Art and History).
Since the mid-1990s, I have been addressing the under-representation of female artists in exhibitions.
I reconstructed nine long-forgotten exhibitions (from 1972-1987) which showed works by women artists. I then analysed these exhibitions from an innovative, spatial theory perspective. During this period, I also lectured on Cultural Management at the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences in Saxony-Anhalt.
I currently work as an independent art historian, curator and writer in Berlin and Saxony-Anhalt. I am also an active board member of EFAK Berlin-Brandenburg e.V., the European Women’s Academy of the Arts and Sciences Foundation.
My aim is to realise innovative concepts for presenting art in both interior and exterior spaces and to open up new spaces and new potential for art, in particular the work of women artists.
